Life-size zebra, giraffe and elephant sculptures on the lawn among picnic tables

The experience

Open air, open fire, open afternoon

What the grounds feel like, and how a visit tends to unfold.

  • The Garden

Tables set beneath mature trees, lanterns in the branches, open air and shade. Seating is spread across the grounds so groups can gather without crowding.

  • Open Fire Cooking

Much of the kitchen happens outdoors, over flame and coals, where guests can see and smell what is being prepared.

  • African Art & Décor

Carved wood, woven fibre, clay and hand-dyed cloth are part of the building itself rather than decoration hung on a wall.

  • Family & Friends

Long tables, space for children, and an unhurried pace. People come to stay a while, not only to eat.

Atmosphere

A social place, not a quiet one

Evenings tend to be livelier than afternoons. Cultural performances and live entertainment are part of the character of the place — schedules are not published here because they vary, so call ahead if you are coming for a particular night.
